While CD Projekt Red is working on The Witcher 4, which will not be released until at least 2027, the RPG world has seen several strong competitors in recent years, such as Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 and Baldur’s Gate 3. Interestingly, these two games will also influence the next title in The Witcher series.
In an interview with PC Gamer, Adam Badowski, CD Projekt Red co-CEO, talks about the impact these titles have had on the direction of the upcoming sequel.
“I love Kingdom Come because of the realism and the feeling, the sense of humor,” Badowski said. “The Kingdom Come kind of simulation, it’s great. There’s so many options, you can change the world, it’s super great. And we would like to keep that, we’d like to follow this trend as well. So these are our next steps for sure.”
