Time flies, it feels like the Houdini 20.5 update was just released, but Houdini 21 is already on the horizon, packed with many new features and improvements. We’ll get an in-depth look later this month when SideFX unveils more details at SIGGRAPH 2025 in Vancouver, so make sure to keep an eye out for the Keynote, HIVE presentations, and other sessions starting the week of August 11.

Continuing the tradition, the developers released a nearly 7-minute video showcasing updates across core toolsets, including modeling, rigging, animation, and simulation. Highlights include the new OTiS solver for muscle and tissue, the Otto humanoid rig, ML-based pyro upres, the addition of the Vulkan viewport, enhancements to COPs, MPM, Apex, Karma, and more.
