The exact cause of Jean Pormanove’s death remains a mystery at this stage. An autopsy performed Thursday, August 21, on the body of the 46-year-old French streamer – whose real name was Raphaël Graven – revealed that his death did “not result from a traumatic cause” and was “not linked to the intervention of another person,” announced Damien Martinelli, the Nice prosecutor. In other words, the influencer, who died on August 18 in the town of Contes (southeastern France) during a livestream that had lasted nearly 300 hours, did not succumb to blows inflicted by another.
Very popular on the online platform Kick, where he had more than 190,000 subscribers (and over half a million on TikTok), Pormanove, or “JP,” was known for being the target of hazing, violence, insults and humiliation in videos recorded with other streamers. Among them were Owen Cenazandotti, known as “Narutovie,” and Safine Hamadi, known as “Safine,” who always presented these scenes as humorous content despite their brutality.
According to the prosecutor, the two experts from the Nice forensic institute concluded there was “an absence of traumatic injuries both internally and externally, especially on the face and skull, that could explain the death,” as well as an “absence of burns.” “The probable causes of death, therefore, appear to be medical and/or toxicological in origin,” said Martinelli.
