Developer Robert Dale Smith has turned a toy into a working gamepad capable of playing Mario Kart.
Smith explained how the setup works: he used the Seeed XIAO nrf52840 Sense microcontroller. The IMU’s roll angle is mapped to either the left or right stick depending on the D-pad mode, enabling gyro-based steering. The project is still in progress, with the top bumper buttons yet to be wired and mapped.
