3D Artist Azamat Gasimov recreated actress Ana de Armas in 3D using the capabilities of MetaHuman in UE5.8. The artist drew inspiration from the actress’s performance in Blade Runner 2049.
The 3D portrait was originally sculpted in Blender and then brought into Unreal Engine. The artist is currently exploring facial rigging, lookdev, skin shading, and different cinematic lighting setups.
MetaHuman received notable updates in UE5.8, ahead of Unreal Engine 6. One of the most remarkable upgrades is MetaHuman Collections. This new experimental asset type lets you populate your real-time world with crowds of MetaHumans, scaling up to “hundreds of characters on mobile and thousands on higher-end platforms”.
Mesh to MetaHuman is now fully built into MetaHuman Creator and works with any mesh topology, while the new MetaHuman Animator Markerless Motion Capture plug-in lets you capture full performances using just a single camera.
