Comic-Con 2026 took over the San Diego Convention Center from July 23-26, and as usual, it brought plenty of news and reveals across movies, shows, comics, games, and collectibles. One of the highlights was the God of War Laufey panel, which had several announcements, including some that might make gamers who weren’t excited about playing as a female lead a little happier.
As reported by IGN, Santa Monica Studio’s Cory Barlog revealed that the next Kratos-led God of War game is coming after God of War Laufey and will connect directly to Laufey’s story. Unfortunately, details about the next mainline God of War game remain unknown.
God of War Laufey now also has a confirmed release date of February 16, 2027. If you missed it, the game lets you play as Kratos’ late wife and Atreus’ mother, Faye, who mysteriously awakens in a strange land after her death.
