In January, the Blender Foundation released its 2025 roadmap, outlining project goals and some key release dates. On June 4, 2025, Blender 5.0 Alpha officially entered production, right on schedule.

While the feature list for Blender 5.0 is yet to be announced, it launches with a new splash screen featuring Pinda and Chocomel, the main characters from DOGWALK, a charming game created by Blender Studio. The project was developed using Godot, aiming to establish a seamless pipeline between the two open-source tools and streamline asset and level creation workflows. DOGWALK has just launched in early access, currently available to Blender Studio subscribers, with a free release planned once it’s polished.

Blender 5.0 will remain in Alpha until October 1, while Blender 4.5 is currently in Beta, with the final release targeted for July 15. Check out the current progress on Blender’s projects here and see what the community had to say in the 2024 feedback survey.
