Kacper Szwajka, the developer of an upcoming medieval-inspired strategy Highland Keep showcased this impressive setup with a real-time sim of 5,000 individual birds.
According to the developer, the technique behind this visualization involves pulling each group toward an ‘attract’ point that functions similarly to an orbit. The pipeline also includes a flocking pass, velocity noise, and terrain collision. As the creator noted, the noise effect in the setup is quite intense, making the flocking behavior less noticeable, but it can be adjusted.
