The European Union is close to making decisions on how to respond to US President Donald Trump’s pledge to introduce 30-percent tariffs against the bloc by August 1, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz said on Wednesday as he met with French President Emmanuel Macron in Berlin. Macron said Europe had a shared desire “to provide stability and have the lowest possible tariffs”.
