We’ve already got a glimpse of Nanite Foliage, a voxel-based technique for rendering dense, high-detail forests, featured in The Witcher 4 and set to officially debut in the next major Unreal Engine release, thanks to Dylan Browne.

The developer has now released a full demo titled Range, showcasing his latest experiment in pushing the limits of an Unreal Engine scene on an RTX 4090 with Nanite Voxelization in UE5-Main. Here, over 200 trillion polygons are distributed using PCG across a 16K-resolution landscape created in Houdini.

Dylan mentioned that it runs at 30 FPS in the editor and has also put together a breakdown, in case you’re interested in seeing how it was made:
