The ruling by Romania’s electoral bureau to exclude the far-right politician Calin Georgescu from the presidential poll in May sparked clashes between his supporters and police in the capital Bucharest. Georgescu won the first round of a presidential election last November, but the vote was annulled amid allegations of Russian meddling in favour of Georgescu.
