Simple Unity Shader For Waving & Motion Effects

Josué “Dervish” Ortigoza, whose handy Unity tutorials we’ve featured many times, has recently released a shader he developed while experimenting with sine functions. It’s essentially a simple, easy-to-set-up system for animating textured planes.

This shader could be particularly useful for animating decorative elements such as flags, plants or foliage, water surfaces, and similar objects. You can get it by clicking this link.

You may recall that the artist had plans for an e-book focused on mastering Unity 6, which is now underway. The Shader Survival Guide will introduce key concepts and exercises, alongside a range of projects, from basic to advanced, that teach you how to create the most commonly used shaders and VFX in the industry, all presented in a clear, step-by-step format.
