Substance 3D Sampler 5.1, the latest update to Adobe’s software for turning real-world materials into digital assets, brings several updates, with the Auto Tiling filter as the key highlight. This new filter is designed specifically for images and materials with a clear, repetitive structure.

Unlike the Make it Tile or Tiling filters, Auto Tiling focuses on isolating the smallest area of the material that can be made to tile. It’s especially useful for textiles.

With an improved Equalize that reduces color bleeding on non-grayscale texture channels, Clone Stamp filters enhanced with a new blending algorithm, and a new automatic fold removal feature for fabrics, achieving clean and accurate scans is now faster and easier, even with complex materials. Also, the new Flatten layer boosts performance by converting stacked layer results into a single set of maps within one unified layer.
