Jude Janitha, also known as BUKKBEEK, has launched Pixel Renderer, a free and open-source 3D to pixel art tool built with Godot 4.4. It essentially converts 3D models and animations into retro-style pixel art, offering customizable effects and the ability to export animations frame by frame.

Pixel Renderer offers real-time conversion with customizable pixelation from 8 to 800 pixels. It includes color quantization with adjustable steps between 2 and 32 colors and supports an 8-color palette. There are also advanced shader effects such as edge detection, sharpening, dithering, and outlines, along with post-processing controls for HSV adjustments, contrast, gamma, and brightness.

For animation and export, users can export frame-by-frame animations as PNG sequences with progress tracking. You can set which frames to export, change the speed from 1 to 120 frames per second, and adjust the resolution. It supports GLB and GLTF models with playback controls and auto-refresh. The camera uses an orthographic view with options to move, rotate, and adjust lighting.

Also, the interface is easy to use, with clear control panels and live previews. Pixel Renderer offers presets, detailed logs, and lets you customize export folders, file names, and batch exports.

The free and open-source version is available on GitHub, but you can support the developer by purchasing it at a price you choose on Itch.io.
