UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer on Tuesday said London would officially recognize a Palestinian state at the UN General Assembly in September unless Israel takes “substantive steps to end the appalling situation in Gaza.” The move comes on the heels of French President Emmanuel Macron’s announcement that France will recognize the state of Palestine at the UN gathering, as Israel faces mounting tension over the catastrophic humanitarian situation in Gaza.
