With the studio’s reputation marred by Kill the Justice League and negative sentiment toward live-service games in the gaming community continuing to grow, it certainly comes as a surprise that a studio already in trouble would risk investing in yet another DC Comics-themed multiplayer title.
One plausible theory is that the game was conceived during the peak of Marvel Rivals’ popularity – one of the few live-service games in recent years to receive near-universal acclaim – and was envisioned as a DC version of a similar concept, however, with the weight of their last two multiplayer titles failing spectacularly – and assuming this theory is true, of course – it seems improbable that Warner Bros. could replicate NetEase’s success.
And what do you think about WB Games developing one more live-service title? Will the third time be the charm, or will the new project join SSKtJL and MultiVersus in a video game cemetery? Let us know in the comments!
