Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky on Thursday called for a direct meeting with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin to seek an end to the war, calling on Moscow to take “real steps to end its aggression”. Zelensky’s statement comes shortly after US President Donald Trump hailed a meeting between his special envoy Steve Witkoff and Putin as “highly productive”.
