Take a walk in this picturesque natural environment, which appears impressively realistic, crafted in 3D by Environment Artist Ahmed Damarany using Houdini and Unreal Engine 5.

Titled The Passage, the scene features lush vegetation and a procedurally generated stone passage, built around a custom Houdini HDA and a real-time procedural material system in Unreal Engine 5. Ahmed Damarany explained that the HDA drives rock generation along a defined curve, with adjustable parameters for size, count, damage level, and polygon count. The scene also involves procedural scattering for grass and plants, all fully parametric.

The workflow also included Substance 3D Designer for base maps, which were then rebuilt as a fully procedural smart material directly in UE5’s material graph, alongside Megascans assets and free assets from Electric Dreams.
