The CG Artist ymt3d on Twitter/X shared a really interesting and dynamic Blender animation that shows a cube moving with a lot of elasticity. The artist explained that the deformation was created using the add-on SMEAR.

The cube moves from one side to the other, jumping, stretching, and getting back to its original form. The animation has a painterly style, and the shadow of the cube also makes it more eye-catching.

SMEAR is a stylized Blender add-on that allows you to customize smear frames and motion effects like elongation. It uses geometry deformation, achieving a more elastic and kind of rubbery look, which is more cartoon-style.

ymt3d is an artist who has shared other projects on their Twitter/X account; some of the latest are an experimental material that’s a shadow-casting pseudo point light.
