Take a look at HavokNation’s mind-blowing tribute to Akira, a 1988 Japanese animated film directed by Katsuhiro Otomo, made in Blender, with rendering completed in Cycles.
The artist brought the futuristic world of post-apocalyptic Neo-Tokyo to 3D, carefully modeling the skyscrapers, neon signage, and dense urban sprawl the film is known for. HavokNation shared that they have been studying Blender for about a year, and the project took around six months of on-and-off work.
The creator drew inspiration from another 3D recreation of Akira’s world – Awaken Akira, created by Ash Thorp and Zaoeyo (XiaoLin Zeng) back in 2018. Check it out:
