He wrapped up his thoughts by saying that when people are “running their mouths” about who Obsidian is now compared to what it was in the past, they are speaking with “zero insight into how a game is made” and who contributed to the studio’s previous titles.

Xbox is apparently placing more emphasis on its major franchise and moving away from giving acquired studios the freedom to create new and ambitious projects. For now, it seems Obsidian won’t be revisiting the Pillars of Eternity universe anytime soon.

Meanwhile, in an interesting bit of timing, the Federal Reserve has named Xbox CEO Asha Sharma as an advisor on its new Jobs and Productivity task force.
