Riot Games revealed details of League Classic, a new gameplay experience recreating the game’s early years.
The “classic era” might mean different time periods for players – beta, Season 1, Season 3, or even a particular patch like Devourer or Challenging Smite Warwick, and the new project aims to have something for everyone. Riot started with Season 3 as an anchor point, but the experience is more of a collection of greatest hits, pulling features from different seasons.
Combat will feel slower and more deliberate: champions will have sharper strengths and weaknesses, slower missiles and dashes, and pricier, harder-hitting spells that demand more strategic play. The map also recreates the early Summoner’s Rift, with faster-respawning buffs and camps, alongside targeted visual upgrades to lighting, shadows, and textures for better readability.
