Ethereum's next network upgrade, Fusaka, is scheduled to go live on Dec. 3 at 21:49 UTC, according to the Ethereum Foundation's latest Checkpoint update. Testing on all three major testnets is complete, with both BPO forks also successfully deployed. While some clients report minor issues, they are not consensus-critical and will not delay the upgrade.

Node operators must update their clients before the activation time to remain compatible. The Fusaka-ready client releases include configurations for the two subsequent BPO forks, scheduled for Dec. 9 and Jan. 7, so only one update is needed to follow all three upgrades.

Glamsterdam and FOCIL

With Fusaka wrapping up, focus shifts to Glamsterdam, targeted for some time in 2026. Its major features, ePBS and BALs, were chosen in August, while minor features are still being debated. The deadline for non-headlining proposals was Oct. 30, with 48 features submitted. Core developers are now reviewing the list based on urgency, compatibility, and complexity.

The anti-censorship feature FOCIL, which had strong support, is currently in a conditional 'Considered' status. In this week's All Core Devs call, there was support for moving FOCIL to the following upgrade, Heka/Bogotá, conditional on a credible commitment for its inclusion. This decision would help developers avoid uncertainty about their workload.

The Ethereum Foundation notes that it's Devconnect week, which may slow progress but could also accelerate in-person consensus. The finalized Glamsterdam feature set is likely to be decided by the end of this year. Discussions on Heka/Bogotá headliners are expected to begin in early 2026.
